We here at Fred Beans Subaru, serving the greater Philadelphia area, will admit it: we were a bit skeptical upon hearing that a rear-wheel drive coupe was being added to the new Subaru lineup. For years, Subaru has been known for offering standard all-wheel drive, so we weren't sure what to think about a break in such a steady convention.

The end result, however, has been out of this world. Specifically, the 2013 Subaru BRZ has been a huge hit with both drivers and professional critics alike. In fact, it's been so well received that Subaru is now considering what can be done to take it a step further. Specifically, the Japanese automaker is now developing an STI trim for the BRZ.

The first indication of this was seen in a recent report that Subaru is developing a turbocharged version of the BRZ engine. And while this certainly did its part to fuel speculation, the fact that a white BRZ sporting an STI badge was recently spotted testing the grounds of the world-famous Nürburgring in Germany, all but proves its development.

So when can we get behind the wheel of it? That part is still up in the air. But as we've just entered auto show season, we wouldn't be surprised to see it turn up in Los Angeles or Detroit in the near future.

That said, Fred Beans Subaru, located at 830 N. Easton Road Doylestown, PA 18902, invites you to stay tuned for more information on the Subaru BRZ STI by subscribing to our blog via your RSS reader.
