2020 Forester Safety Ratings
The
Subaru Forester has your safety built right into the body itself. When
tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), it scored
their highest possible rating. Equipped with EyeSight® Driver Assist
Technology and LED Steering Responsive Headlights, the IIHS gave the
Forester the coveted 2019 TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation.
The
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performed its
own myriad of crash tests on the Forester. These tests simulate moving
barriers, such as being struck from the side in an intersection, as well
as pole barriers to give you the full sense of a car's driver-side
safety.
The Forester passed each one with flying colors and was awarded a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating.
Standard Subaru EyeSight® Safety
The
Subaru EyeSight® suite of active safety features is designed to serve
as an extension of your senses when you're behind the wheel. Available
on every trim of the 2020 Subaru Forester, this suite integrates
features such as:
- Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering to help you maintain a pre-set distance from the car in front of you
- Pre-Collision Braking System that
warns you when it senses an imminent front-end collision. It can also
help apply your brakes to mitigate or avoid the accident.
- Lane Departure and Sway Warning watches your position on the road and notifies you when you veer from your lane
- Pre-Collision Throttle Management to detect objects in front of your vehicle and reduce the power to limit frontal impact damage
Standard Active Safety Features
Beyond
the driver-assist features, you'll find plenty of active safety tech
that's standard, too. Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive comes with
every Forester trim, so you can benefit from increased traction when you
need to travel snow-covered Philadelphia streets in the middle of
winter.
How
is the all-wheel drivetrain powered? Across all trims, it's the Subaru
BOXER® engine that does the work, avoiding slippage by continuously
delivering power to every wheel. The innovative technology behind this
engine also helps reduce vibration and drag as well as extend engine
life by limiting piston wear. It's just another aspect of the Forester's
commitment to your safety behind the wheel.
